Post-Op Recovery, Done Differently ✨
Swelling. Scar tissue. That “will I ever feel normal again” feeling. Post-surgical recovery is hard — and most people don’t know there’s a massage technique built specifically for it.
I’m trained in the Vodder technique of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) — a gentle, precise method that works WITH your body’s existing lymphatic system to help it drain more effectively. Think of it as giving your lymph system a nudge in the right direction, not forcing anything.
Here’s where it gets specific to me: I layer my cupping training into MLD sessions. Cupping helps decompress tissue and get things moving on a deeper level — so when I combine it with lymphatic drainage, sessions become faster AND more effective at reducing swelling and improving scar mobility.
The result? 🔹 Reduced swelling 🔹 Improved scar tissue mobility 🔹 Faster healing 🔹 Real pain relief
This isn’t a relaxation massage. It’s targeted, technical, and built for people who are serious about their recovery.

Let’s learn how to do Manual Lymphatic Drainage the right way!
Don’t underestimate the power of a massage. Key Body Systems Affected
* Nervous System
* Effect: Activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which slows heart rate, lowers blood pressure, and reduces stress.
* Benefit: Helps decrease nervous irritability, alleviates tension headaches, and promotes deep relaxation and better sleep.
* Muscular System
* Effect: Relieves muscle tension, reduces spasms, and breaks down scar tissue or adhesions in the fascia.
* Benefit: Eases sore muscles, improves flexibility, and accelerates physical recovery after exertion.
* Cardiovascular and Circulatory Systems
* Effect: Stimulates blood flow, which brings fresh oxygen and nutrients to tissues while removing metabolic waste.
* Benefit: Can reduce localized swelling, lower resting heart rate, and improve overall cardiovascular circulation.
* Lymphatic and Immune Systems
* Effect: Manually promotes lymphatic drainage, helping to transport fluid, waste products, and immune cells throughout the body.
* Benefit: Reduces tissue edema (swelling) and enhances immune function by boosting the body’s natural detoxification and defense mechanisms.
* Digestive System
* Effect: Encourages parasympathetic dominance, which regulates and improves digestive organ function.
* Benefit: Stimulates peristalsis (the wave-like contractions of the intestines), which can help alleviate constipation, gas, and bloating.
* Endocrine System
* Effect: Triggers the release of endorphins (the body’s natural painkillers) and oxytocin (the “bonding hormone”) while suppressing stress hormones like cortisol.
* Benefit: Reduces chronic pain, boosts mood, and counters the negative physical effects of long-term stress.
* Integumentary System (Skin)
* Effect: Stimulates sensory nerve endings and increases local temperature through friction.
* Benefit: Improves skin elasticity, supports the shedding of dead skin cells, and aids in the softening of superficial scar tissue.
Manual lymphatic drainage isn’t a luxury — it’s one of the most powerful tools for post-surgical recovery. It helps reduce swelling, alleviate pain, and speed up your body’s natural healing process.
Here’s a gentle guide to get you started:
🗓️ Weeks 1 & 2 — Every other day (about 3x a week) Your body is doing the most work right now — give it the support it needs.
🗓️ Weeks 3 & 4 — Twice a week as swelling continues to settle.
🗓️ Ongoing — Once a week, then transition to once a month for maintenance.
Every body heals differently, so I always listen to what yours is telling me. The goal is for you to feel better, move better, and heal fully.
If you or someone you love is preparing for or recovering from surgery, save this post and share it with them.
