Joanna Cierpka, 51, is on trial for k lling her Danish banker boyfriend, Henrik Slotsaa, 52, at their home in Elephant and Castle, London, in March 2026.

Police were called to the apartment on March 15 after Cierpka sent an email to family and friends saying she intended to take her own life. Officers forced their way inside and found Slotsaa’s partially decomposed body in the bedroom, with dried bl%od nearby.

Cierpka, originally from Gdynia, Poland, was found with an eight-inch kitchen kn fe and a deep c¥t on her elbow. She reportedly told police that Slotsaa had called her a “useless sh-t” and told her to k ll herself. She later told a hospital worker, “I k lled my partner.”

Prosecutors said Slotsaa suffered 14 sharp-force injuries, including st@b and slash wo¥nds to his face, neck, arms and legs.

The court heard that Cierpka had been struggling after losing her marketing job at British American To***co. Friends said she had previously been the “life and soul of the party.”

Prosecutors also told the court that Slotsaa had been flirting with a female colleague, Aimee O’Shaughnessy, and had told Cierpka on her birthday that he had met someone else at work. Slotsaa and O’Shaughnessy had exchanged messages and met for lunch several times.

Cierpka denies m¥rder but has pleaded guilty to mansl@ughter, with the defence arguing that her mental state reduced her responsibility. Prosecutors reject this and are seeking a m¥rder conviction.

Nigeria Wins $2.35bn Arbitration Battle Against Sunrise Power As ICC Tribunal Dismisses Claim

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) tribunal in Paris has ruled in favour of Nigeria in the $2.35 billion arbitration dispute involving Sunrise Power over the Mambilla hydropower project.

The tribunal dismissed Sunrise Power’s claim that Nigeria breached its obligations under a settlement agreement and addendum. It also rejected the company’s demand for $400 million, comprising a $200 million settlement sum and a $200 million default payment.

Sunrise Power and its promoter, Leno Adesanya, were ordered to reimburse Nigeria 75% of the legal fees and expenses incurred during the arbitration, amounting to $11.82 million. The arbitration costs were fixed at $1.656 million, with Sunrise and Adesanya responsible for 75% and Nigeria 25%.

The dispute dates back to a 2003 agreement for Sunrise Power to construct the 3,050MW Mambilla hydropower project in Taraba State under a $6 billion build-operate-transfer arrangement.

In 2017, Sunrise began arbitration proceedings against Nigeria, seeking about $2.354 billion over the alleged breach of the 2003 agreement. The company later pursued another $400 million claim linked to a 2020 settlement agreement.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo had said he never authorised the 2003 contract, while former President Muhammadu Buhari said he refused to approve the proposed 2020 settlement because he believed there was no basis for Sunrise’s claim.

The latest ICC ruling therefore leaves Sunrise’s $2.35 billion claim dismissed, while Nigeria is set to recover a substantial portion of its legal costs.

Nigerian man who masturbated in front of woman on UK train bags 10 months jail term

The Manchester Magistrate Court on Monday, September 14, sentenced Nigerian man and registered s offender, Babatunde Odutola, to 10 months in jail after exposing himself and mast in front of a woman on a train travelling towards Manchester.

Odutola, 36, of no fixed address, was arrested around 7pm on Friday, September 11, after harrassing the woman while on a train travelling through Cheshire towards Manchester Piccadilly railway station.

British Transport Police said Odutola approached the woman on the train, looked her up and down and became aggressive when she refused to engage with him.
The police said he then exposed himself while sitting in a wheelchair and began m@sturbating while staring at the woman and telling her to “come over”.

A fellow passenger intervened and escorted the distressed woman from the carriage.

The police said that CCTV footage showed Odutola continued m@sturbating as other passengers walked through the carriage.

British Transport Police officers arrested him after the train arrived at Manchester Piccadilly.

He was subsequently prosecuted and jailed within 72 hours of the incident.

Detective Constable Leonidas Christoforou of British Transport Police said Odutola’s behaviour had been “terrifying” for the victim, whom he allegedly singled out while she was travelling alone.

“He’s shown little remorse for his actions and denied the allegations against him during his police interview,” Christoforou said.

However, he said CCTV footage and witness accounts provided evidence against Odutola, who eventually pleaded guilty in court.

A 56-year-old Nigerian woman, Gladys Adaeze Okafor, has been arrested and charged with illegally voting in the 2022 midterm elections in the United States after lying about her citizenship.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Jeff Grimming, Acting Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New England made the announcement in a release issued the Department of Justice on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

The Defendant residing in Lynn, Massachusets, Boston, also allegedly voted in the 2024 Presidential primary election.

Okafor, is charged with unlawfully voting as an alien.

The defendant was arrested on Wednesday morning.

She is expected to appear in federal court in Boston on the same day.

According to the charging documents, Okafor is a citizen of Nigeria who was born in Aba, Abia State.


Okafor obtained lawful permanent resident status in December 2022 but is not a U.S. citizen and has not applied for U.S. citizenship.

In July 2022, Okafor allegedly submitted a voter registration card, signing her name under a certification which provided “I AM A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES … Signed under penalty of perjury.”

The City of Lynn subsequently registered her to vote, and Okafor allegedly voted in the midterm elections that fall.

It is further alleged that Okafor submitted a second voter registration form in October of 2023, checking the “U.S. Citizen” box and signing under the U.S. citizen certification. Okafor allegedly voted in the 2024 presidential primary election.

The charge of unlawful voting as an alien provides for a sentence of up to one year in prison, one year of supervised release and a fine of $100,000.

The defendant may be subject to deportation upon completion of any sentence imposed. Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based upon the U.S.

Sentencing Guidelines and statutes which govern the determination of a sentence in a criminal case.
