Seven free backpack and school supply giveaways are coming up across Detroit.

Aug. 5: Back-to-School Rally, Racquet Up Detroit, 6530 Outer Drive West, 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Aug. 11: Back-to-School Supplies Giveaway, Wayne County, 4733 Conner St., 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Aug. 14: MiSide Back to School Bash, Kemeny Recreation Center, 2260 S. Fort St., noon to 4 p.m.
Aug. 15: Peace Over Pistols, 10700 W. Seven Mile Rd., noon to 4 p.m.
Aug. 20: Back-to-School Resource Party, Joseph Walker Williams Recreation Center, 8431 Rosa Parks Blvd., 2 to 6 p.m.
Aug. 22: Backpack Giveaway at the Co-op, Detroit People's Food Co-op, 8324 Woodward Ave., noon to 6 p.m.
Aug. 23: MOCAD Resource Fair, 4454 Woodward Ave., 1 to 3 p.m.

Racquet Up adds a bounce house, raffles, and free Kona Ice. Peace Over Pistols has 400 backpacks for K through 12, and kids have to be present to get one. MiSide moved venues this year, so it's Kemeny now, not Heilmann.

Most are first come, first served, so get there at the start time. And call ahead the morning of, community giveaways shift dates and run out.
