Dank Hair

Category isssss…. Hair Tattoo!! Really wanted to push myself and BooBoo Ray was down for something Xtra. Wanted to do a psychedelic inspired mandala design, but neon AF. We decided to add in the beard and brows to really give that main character energy and love the results!! Painted with 𝖈𝖍𝖗𝖔𝖒𝖆𝗗𝗔𝗗𝗗𝗬 as an entry for The Rainbow Convention

Hair shows/competitions like The Rainbow Convention really do push us to elevate our craft and the way we document it.
This project, and the photographs that came from it felt like such a level up moment for me. Had a starting point for an inspiration - Alysa Liu’s stripe hair, but make it Dank. When Sierra was down I really thought about where I wanted everything to live based on her haircut and how she wears her hair. The way this came to life felt so good! We had some corrective work to do to re-section for our placement and work through old vivid highlights through the stripe section and a *lot* of dark hair. In addition to a rainbow prism halo throughout her perimeter, and her black and blonde section, we of course had to do something fun with her side shave! So we opted for a neon chartreuse and *Quenched* checkerboard. It was a big transformation, and honestly took around 12 hours total. As if that wasn’t enough, she was a rockstar and came back for photos and let me practice really being intentional with my photos and we got silly and tried out some new to us poses and honestly had a blast. I tried to manipulate the hair a bit more than I normally do and am really stoked on how some of the peekaboos are showcased against the striped section.
Placement and contrast were definitely the focus here and I hope you love it as much as we did!

Cruising through old photos and realized I never shared this to the grid. is one of my regulars and an overall stellar human - and this was definitely one of my favorite rainbows we’ve done for her. We usually bounce between styling with her natural curls, or straight, but switched it with with a curling iron and honestly loved this finish on her. Happy scrolling!
