Certain chemical sunscreen ingredients, like avobenzone, can contribute to peachy, pink, or orange discoloration on light-colored extensions, especially when combined with minerals, chlorine, or salt water. Extensions are more porous than natural hair, making them much more susceptible.

Extension removal can be devastating, especially if you’ve become attached to a look they’ve given you with density and length. Most of the time I would remove the extensions, refresh the color and then reinstall in the same day. But this client in particular needed to have an MRI so we planned the removal and reinstall a week apart to accommodate her.
