These classes are a dedication to my father Late Shri S K Ramachandran lovingly known as SKR who was a number one South Indian vegetarian catering contractor in Delhi for almost 50+ years. He was an institution in himself as many who worked for him went on to become entrepreneurs. He was a legend as he made several South Indians families very proud by creating authentic wedding ambience and catered to different occasions with mouth watering, delicious meals, sweets and savouries. His service was second to none and his peoples skills was to die for. He was extremely charming, sincere, honest, loving and god fearing man. He has been instrumental in creating an unimaginable wedding experiences for many South Indian families in North India which could only be possible in South India. Be it plantain tree for the decoration at the entrance, banana leaf for serving food, coconuts, betel nuts, pan leaf, jasmine flowers for puja and keeping in the hair to rose garlands for bride and groom, real pandits for conducting the ceremony and rituals there was only one man who could do it, it was SKR! I am truly blessed to be his daughter and I feel it is my sheer luck that I am able to teach many of his recipes to my students. This is my own little tribute and effort to keep his name alive and help my students learn and create beautiful dishes here in the most beautiful place on earth, my home New Zealand!

It is a day that is widely celebrated all over the World it signifies ‘triumph of righteousness over evil and protection of virtuous’.
One of the many ways to celebrate is to make variety of sweets and savouries, special dishes and dressing him up in new clothes. Although Krishna says if you offer even a leaf with conviction I will accept it whole heartedly.
An important message that is to be remembered today and ever is ;
1. Keep doing your duty with utmost dedication and passion and leave the results to the divine power.
2. Unconditional love - see the good in everyone, be empathetic, let go anger, ego and the most difficult one hatred.
3. Faith - have faith and trust that what ever will be, will be. Stop living with fear and believe that you can’t fix everything and that Lord can.

Matha (Mother), Pitha (Father), Guru (Teacher), Deivam (God) - Mother is the supreme and comes before Father, Teacher and God is how we believe is the creation.
Mothers are very special and takes on the all the above other roles with utmost else. She gives everything she has selflessly to her family and never puts herself first ever.
I have been very fortunate to have three mothers in my life, my departed Mother who gave birth and made me what I am, my Sister who cared and nurtured me and my Daughter who taught me many things and guided me to be in the journey I am in.
Celebrate your Mother as they come in different form of Angels (Father, brother, Sister, Uncle, Aunty and more) while they are still with you. Call them often as she is not here forever and she longs for your love more than ever now.
You are very blessed if you still have her around celebrate her everyday just not one day of the year.
