Makery Lane
All natural skin care that is beef tallow based utilizing local ingredients sourced from farmers.
ONLYFAT™
Premium fat content.
Turns out not all fat content is created equal.
Ours starts with locally sourced, grass-fed beef tallow from ethical, regenerative Niagara farmers. Around here, we’re pretty particular about our content. Our fat is locally sourced, grass-fed, rendered in small batches, and turned into ridiculously good tallow skincare right here in the heart of the Rose City 🌹Makery Lane, Not your average fat creator.
Dog? Tallow.

World hunger? Tallow... I mean maybe not, but you get my drift. Tallow really is one hell of a versatile natural product. There are so many ways to use it, so many things you can make with it, and that’s exactly why I love working with it.
And when it’s made with ingredients sourced from our local Niagara farmers, even better. Simple ingredients, multiple solutions. 🐄🌼🌱🖤
REAL. RAW.
Raw milk. Raw honey. Grass fed tallow.
Naturally occurring glycerine.
Made by hand in Niagara.
Milk & Honey Soap. 🍯🥛🌼🐄
A little evolution is coming to a couple of our balms. 🌿🌼🪻🌸
I’ve been researching, developing and working with locally grown botanicals to create my own infused oils for some of our existing formulas.
The goal isn’t to reinvent the products you already love. It’s about making them more intentional, more botanical, and even more connected to what Makery Lane is about.
Plantain will be making its way into SOS, and I’ll be working with plantain and yarrow in Paw & Pasture, giving these formulas an even more intentional botanical focus.
I’ll share more as these new formulations are ready.
Same products. Same purpose. Just a little more of the farm, field and apothecary making its way into them.🐄🖤
Hey guys. 👋
We LOVE seeing Makery Lane out in the wild.
Photos of your purchases. Before & afters. You shopping the farm stand. Products showing up at the barn. Market day pics. Whatever it is, we want to see it.
Tag us. Share us. Send us your photos. We will always be happy to feature you on our page.
Honestly, it’s just really fu***ng cool to see you guys using our stuff. It’s one thing for me to sit here and make it, but seeing it out in the real world is a whole different thing. It lets me know that all of this is actually being enjoyed and appreciated.
And while we’re at it…
Tell us what you think.
Because sure, we can tell you why we love a product.
(We = me.)
I’m the one making it, so obviously I’m going to tell you it’s fantastic. I’m a little biased.
So if you love something, tell me. If you don’t, tell me that too. Don’t be afraid to give honest feedback. It helps me learn, make things better, and understand what you guys actually want.
And if you have a photo, tag us. We love seeing where Makery Lane ends up.
Show us Makery Lane in the wild. 🐄🖤
You don’t have to be into skincare to use tallow. Dry face, cracked hands, rough patches, post shave irritation? We’ve got you.
Whipped Tallow Moisturizer
Daily moisturizer for face and body. Great before or after shaving, and a little through the beard works too.
Tallow Balms
Made with beeswax for extra staying power. Great for dry, cracked hands, rough patches, little cuts and scrapes, and extra dry skin. Probably makes a damn good beard wax too.
Detox Soap
Gritty, all black activated charcoal with rosemary and tea tree. A favourite with mechanics for grease and grime, great for chefs and anyone working with oils, and also a solid choice for oily and acne prone skin.
Now the scents we suggest for the fellas, but the options are endless with 11 whipped options!
No Apologies
Bergamot, cedarwood, sandalwood and frankincense. Warm, woodsy and clean with a masculine edge. Soft enough to share.
Pimple Whisperer
Eucalyptus, tea tree and lemon. Fresh and crisp for oily or breakout prone skin and the occasional blemish. Not for cystic acne or open breakouts.
Unscented
Actually unscented. No pot roast smell. 😂 Quality tallow and proper rendering make the difference.
Chill Pill
Lavender and rosemary. Herbal, clean and mellow for skin that tends to get red or irritated.
Our essential oils are properly diluted for face and body use. These aren’t perfumed body butters. You’ll smell them when applied, but they aren’t meant to linger like cologne.
Black and white packaging. Simple names. Nothing fussy.
Patch test first, especially if you have sensitive or reactive skin.
So if you’ve been eyeing your girlfriend’s jar of “fat cream”…
Steal the jar. Try it.
There’s a whole story behind this bag of fat.
Meet Bob & Leslie Comfort of Comfort Farms.
They’re one of my go-to local farmers and a pretty damn important part of where Makery Lane starts.
Bob grows his own grain and hay crops using non-GMO seed and mills his own feed right there on the farm.
Their cattle are primarily grass and hay fed, with less than 5% non-GMO grain used for finishing. Their livestock are raised without added hormones or antibiotics. (you can purchase livestock grain from their farm!)
And Leslie has her own pretty interesting history in agriculture.
She came from the horse world, and in 2003 she traded 37 registered alpacas for six registered Canadian Horses.
That eventually led to Canadian Comfort Alpacas, where she has continued breeding registered alpacas and building another whole side of the farm.
That’s the stuff I like seeing.
Not just a name on a package. Actual people who have spent decades raising animals, growing crops and figuring out how to make a living from the land.
And that’s where my tallow starts.
I know the farm.
I know the farmers.
I know where the fat came from.
Then it comes back to Makery Lane and I turn it into something you put on your skin.
That’s what I mean when I say I know where my s**t comes from. (The good s**t)
I actually do. Our tallow skin care products are made from quality kidney fat.
And now you know who my dealer is. You can purchase their meats though Small Scale Farms
I’ve been watching the tallow space get really interesting lately.
And honestly, I love seeing more people discover tallow and start paying attention to what they’re putting on their skin. I think that’s a good thing.
But I’ve also noticed how quickly everything starts to sound exactly the same.
“Your skin recognizes it.”
“Simple, natural ingredients.”
“Supports your skin barrier.”
At this point, I think we’ve all seen the same buzzwords about 4000 times.
And then there’s the whole “grass-fed” and now “grass-fed AND finished” thing.
I actually love knowing where my ingredients come from. That’s kind of my whole thing. But if you’re going to use those words as a selling feature, I want to know what they actually mean. Where did the tallow come from? Which farm? How were those animals raised?
Because we’re in Canada. Cattle live through winter. There’s a lot more that goes into feeding livestock here than standing in a field eating fresh grass all year.
That stuff matters to me.
I want to know my tallow. I want to know my ratios. I want to know why I’m using a particular oil, butter or essential oil and where I sourced it from.
And that’s probably where Makery Lane is a little different too.
I’m not knocking the super cute, perfectly curated, tone-on-tone aesthetic. It’s pretty. I actually like pretty things.
It’s just not us.
We’re a little eclectic. A little rugged. Very hands-on. Informative when it matters, a little bit of cursing when it’s warranted, and still plenty pretty.
Think eclectic rustic grandma meets tattooed farmer.
That’s more our speed.
Tallow responsibly. Know your dealer.
Good fat. Good skin. No bulls**t. Simple skin care, with natural and local ingredients=skin care routine game changer.
No chill
