I’ve held onto this experience until now. Bear with me for 15 slides. 🙏🏼

On May 25, 2020, a Black man named George Floyd was murdered by a police officer in broad daylight.

Of course I already knew anti-Black racism still existed. I knew it was a serious and deadly systemic problem. But watching George Floyd’s murder shook something in me. It wasn’t just another news story — it was a turning point. And there’s no going back.

I realized I needed to learn how to be an active ally to the Black community.

So, I listened. And I learned from Black educators. I amplified Black voices. I reshared resources. I donated. I had uncomfortable conversations. I challenged my own assumptions. I spent countless hours trying to become a better ally because I genuinely believe that if you know people are experiencing hatred and discrimination, your job is to listen and then act.

Ironically, that’s exactly how my Jewish advocacy began.

Here’s why… 👇🏽

As I continued to learn from Black anti-racism educators, I noticed something that became harder and harder to ignore.

Many people who branded themselves as “anti-racism educators” weren’t actually educating about racism as a whole. They were specifically educating about anti-Black racism— which, to be clear, is incredibly important and necessary. But their title should reflect that. Ie: anti-Black racism educator.

One experience stands out to be.

I was taking an anti-racism course from a well known Black educator.

She started the lesson by saying something along the lines of:

“In this space, we will not tolerate Islamophobia, anti-Black racism, anti-Asian hate, homophobia, transphobia…”

What did she forget?

Antisemitism.

Later, when I messaged her to share the impact it had when she had left out antisemitism of all things, in a world where antisemitism is rising, her response shocked me.

She said it was an oversight, which I figured. But then she continued…

“I believe in Palestinian sovereignty and liberation.”

This is just ONE example of indoctrination. And child abuse in Palestinian Territories.

Disgusting. Sad. Terrifying.

How is peace possible when Arab Palestinian children are taught this? …
