Glenna, is a talented Independent Licensed Celebrity Hairstylist that comes with just under 20 years working with afro-textured hair. She had a full-circle moment when she was asked to teach a Hair Texture class at the Toronto Aveda Institute. Glenna also was awarded "Best Salon" (People's Choice Awards), by By Blacks in 2018. Her love of hair began at a young age and it has flourished into a successful career path. She knows that the health of your hair starts from within, and encourages her clients to maintain a healthy diet, along with being active. She believes there is beauty in all textures and Black women should be free to explore creative avenues with their hair, without receiving validation from others. She also produces an annual hair show entitled, Natural Hair Fete, that is a celebration of curly & kinky textures. It is a show that brings talented Hairstylists together, along with Special Guests that speak to health & wellness, hair care, and entrepreneurship. You can also find a curated marketplace filled with small businesses. Guests take in the sounds of one her favourite DJs and you won't go hungry as light appetizers are provided. Glenna has worked with celebrities; such as, Issa Rae for an American Express campaign and Karan Kendrick for a TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) appearance. Glenna is a member of Felicia's Leatherwood's, Texture Management, team of talented artists. Glenna's work has appeared in Flare Magazine, Essence Magazine, and she has had the opportunity to work in Theatre and Television. Glenna is excited about the future and is looking forward to more future collaborations and working on more creative projects.

My client was very specific about the kind of bob she wanted and she didn’t want it to look full, so we did less braids. We did a combination of singles and cornrows to get the look that she wanted. Her hair is longer than the look that she wanted so we opted to place Bantu Knots at the end of her braids. We loved the look and it was super lightweight.
Yes, you can wash your braids and it’s encouraged. So many people think once you have braids in your hair, you don’t have to, but your scalp still needs to be cleansed. Daily hydration with Rose Water or your favourite refresher spray, along with shampooing every 7-10 days minimum. Something to note is we skip the conditioner step when washing braids.

This braided bob is everything! We loved how this turned out. This young client is growing out an undercut and who would know! If you want braids, but don’t want hair resting on your shoulders or just looking for a new look, I highly recommend this!
Something to note— if you want a braided bob, but your own hair is longer, we can always put Bantu Knots on the end. Look out for that in my next post.

Goddess Braids are great if you like the look of braids, but want to add a bit of whimsy to your look! When you’re booking with myself or another professional do explain what you want exactly. Some people want to see more braids than curls, while others want to see more curls and less braids— making those boho braids. If you’re not sure, we will ask you for an inspiration photo, as photos fill in where words fail us sometimes.

There’s something so beautiful about embracing the grey.
I loved creating these grey/silver braids for my client, and it’s so exciting to see more hair extension brands offering a wider range of shades beyond the traditional colours.
We also had some lavender braiding hair that my client already had, so I decided to incorporate it at the back as a subtle pop of colour—almost like a highlight woven into the braids.
A little creativity can make a style feel completely personal. And honestly… this colour combination is stunning.
Also, for those who area unsure, yes, you should be washing your extensions when you have them in.

I hadn’t seen this beautiful soul since before the pandemic. In recent years, she has experienced severe breakage and reached out to do a Big Chop! She had an inspiration photo for what she wanted, but it wasn’t possible to achieve that look during the appointment. It’s definitely a look that she can aspire to have in the future, as her hair grows in.
