We are pleased to offer flexibility in study by offering In Class training and Distance Learning. We are pleased to offer flexibility in study by offering full-time training and part-time distance training. Continuing education classes, as well as personal interest classes, are scheduled throughout the year, these are open for the public to register for. The school is located in Red Deer, Alberta, a thriving and prosperous community, centrally positioned between Alberta's largest cities, Calgary and Edmonton. The school was established in 1990 and in monitoring the pulse of the profession, has stayed current with this changing vocational field, and has consistently met the demands for a higher standard of education. In a pleasant "small school" environment, our supportive staff and faculty nurture our students and encourage their sincere desires to gain knowledge and achieve their goals for the course. We are dedicated to graduating massage therapists who are exceptionally trained, skilled, successful, and personally fulfilled. We are proud of our graduates and celebrate their achievements in personal growth and diverse career development.

New beginnings and familiar faces at AIM. 💙
Our classrooms are filling up again, and we’re so excited to welcome our newest group of first-year students as they begin their massage therapy education with us!
There are lots of new faces, new classmates, new routines… and probably more anatomy than they know what to do with just yet. 😂📚
We’re also very happy to welcome back our second-year students as they begin the next part of their journey. They already know their way around AIM — now it’s time to build on everything they learned in first year and keep developing those skills.
There’s something pretty special about seeing one group just beginning while another comes back ready for year two. 💙

Massage School Word of the Day: Effleurage ✋
Effleurage is a massage technique that uses smooth, gliding strokes over the body, generally performed with the palms or fingers.
No, it’s not just another fancy massage-school word. 😂
Effleurage is commonly used at the beginning and end of a massage, as well as between other techniques. It can help therapists warm and assess the tissues while creating a smooth transition throughout the treatment.
It’s one of the foundational techniques massage therapy students learn early on — and one they’ll use again and again throughout their careers.

Flashback Friday 📸
We’ve been digging through the AIM archives again, and this week’s throwback is all about one thing that has always been a big part of AIM: hands-on learning.
Different years, different classrooms, different scrubs 😂 - but plenty of practice, teamwork, and learning by doing.
And if you look closely at that first photo… that little girl helping out with the massage is our instructor Leigha. Apparently she was getting an early start at AIM. 😂💙
From classroom practice to community events and everything in between, it’s pretty fun to look back and see how much has changed... and how much of the heart of AIM has stayed the same.
We still have plenty more tucked away in the archives, so Flashback Friday definitely isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. 😉

But looking back at these photos, so much of what makes AIM AIM still feels very familiar: hands-on learning, lots of anatomy, students learning together, plenty of laughs, and instructors who truly become part of the AIM community.
In fact, take a close look at the old group photo with the skeleton… you might recognize Lindsay, who was teaching then and is still teaching our students today. 💙

Massage school is about so much more than learning how to give a massage. 💆♀️📚
Behind every hands-on technique is a whole lot of learning.
At AIM, students spend time building their knowledge and skills in areas like:
• Anatomy & physiology
• Assessment
• Palpation
• Pathology
• Treatment planning
• Hands-on techniques
• And learning how to apply it all when working with real people
It’s about understanding the body, learning to think critically, developing strong hands-on skills, and gradually putting all of those pieces together.
These photos are just a little glimpse into what learning massage therapy can actually look like. 💙
