Have you ever reached for a drink and wondered if it was really the alcohol you wanted?
Iāve been asking myself that lately.
So instead, Iāve started making what I call my fancy herbal potions. šæāØ
Fresh herbs from my garden, fruit, honey, lemon, ice, and sparkling water.
Iām realizing that what I was often craved wasnāt necessarily the alcoholāit was the ritual. A quiet moment to slow down, create something with my hands, and let the day come to an end.
This is just one small part of a much bigger journey.
I recently started Wildly Rooted, where Iām sharing my journey through herbalism, motherhood, and creating a life that feels a little slower and a little more intentional.
If any part of this resonates with you, Iād love to have you follow along. šæ

Sarah (@wildlyrootedwithsarah) Why I Started Making Botanical Drinks There was a time when making myself a drink meant reaching for alcohol. For generations, alcohol has been woven into my familyās story. For a long time, I believed it had to be part of mine too. It wasnāt always about wanting a drink. It was about the ritual...

Wild blackberries are one of my favourite late-summer gifts. š«āØ
I foraged these wild blackberries and turned them into a refreshing herbal drink with fresh lemon juice, raw honey, chamomile, lemon balm, ice, and club soda.
I love this blend because:
š« Wild blackberries are rich in antioxidants that help protect your cells from everyday stress.
š¼ Chamomile is traditionally used to promote relaxation and help you wind down.
šæ Lemon balm has long been enjoyed for its calming properties and gentle support for the nervous system.
š Lemon adds a bright burst of vitamin C.
šÆ Raw honey brings natural sweetness and can be soothing on the throat.
Sometimes the best wellness starts with whatās growing around us. š Thereās something special about taking a handful of wild berries and turning them into something nourishing to share with the people you love.
Whatās your favourite way to use wild blackberries?

Good morning šæāØ
I woke up feeling like a cold might be trying to sneak in, so I started my day with one of my favourite herbal blends.
šæ Lemon Balm
š¼ Chamomile
š¹ Rose
Finished with a spoonful of my homemade honey garlic ferment. šÆš§
Did you know?
šæ Lemon balm is known for its calming and antiviral properties, helping support the body while reducing stress and tension.
š¼ Chamomile may help soothe sore throats, calm inflammation, and encourage rest and recovery.
š¹ Rose is rich in antioxidants and offers gentle support for the immune system while soothing irritated tissues.
šÆš§ Honey garlic ferment combines the soothing properties of raw honey with the immune-supportive benefits of garlic, making it a staple in my herbal cupboard.
Whether itās the herbs themselves or simply taking a quiet moment to slow down, there is something healing about starting the morning with a warm cup in your hands. š

This morningās tea ritual šæ
Lately, this has been one of my favorite blends to reach for when my body feels like it needs calm, grounding, and a little extra support.
Rose for the heart, skin, and gentle hormone support.
Chamomile to calm the nervous system, ease digestion, and help me slow down.
Lemon balm for stress support, mood balance, and bringing me back to center.
The deeper I go on this wellness journey, the more Iām realizing healing doesnāt always have to be complicated.
Sometimes itās as simple as slowing down.
Nourishing your body.
Creating small daily rituals that support you from within.
True beauty really does start at the root.
Are you coffee first⦠or tea first?

The more Iāve learned about hormones, the more Iāve realized just how much they can impact us as women.
Hair loss.
Anxiety.
Exhaustion.
Mood swings.
Poor sleep.
Cycle issues.
Weight changes.
Skin problems.
So many things weāre often told are ānormalā can actually be signs that our bodies are asking for support.
After going through my own struggles with postpartum depletion, hormonal imbalance, stress, and hair loss, I became passionate about understanding what was really happening beneath the surface.
Hormones are connected to so much more than we realizeā
stress,
thyroid health,
nervous system regulation,
nutrition,
liver function,
blood sugar,
and overall wellness.
The deeper I go, the more Iām learning that true healing often means supporting the whole body.
And whatās been especially fascinating to me is how many herbs and plants have traditionally been used to support women through exactly these kinds of imbalances.
Nettle.
Lemon balm.
Chamomile.
Rosemary.
Dandelion.
So many of these plants grow naturally around usā
in our gardens,
our backyards,
our own environments.
It really makes you think.
Maybe some of the things we need most have been here all along.
Iām still learning, but the more I understand healing, the more I feel called back to the rootsā
to slower wellness,
to plants,
to deeper nourishment,
and to supporting the body the way nature intended. šæ

Meet the women behind Avaia. āØ
What started over a decade ago with our mom and Nikki has grown into the beautiful evolution Avaia is today.
Built from passion, resilience, and a shared love for beauty, this business began with strong family roots ā and over the years, itās been passed down, grown, and reimagined into the space weāre so proud to call our own.
Now, as sisters and co-owners, we continue that legacy together.

This journey didnāt begin with herbsāit began with imbalance.
After becoming a mother for the first time, my body felt deeply depleted. The hormonal shifts, exhaustion, and the emotional weight of motherhoodāespecially without the support I truly neededāleft me feeling disconnected from myself.
My hair began falling out, and it became one of the first visible signs that something deeper in my body was out of balance.
At the time, I was an estheticianānot a hairstylist. Hair wasnāt my passion yet.
But my own experience pushed me to start asking bigger questions:
Why was this happening?
What was my body lacking?
How could I heal from the inside out?
I began diving into nutrition, hormone health, stress, deficiencies, and overall wellness in search of answersānot just for my hair, but for myself.
Over the last 8 years, that search has transformed everything.
What began as personal healing became a deep passion for hair, scalp health, and understanding beauty at its root.
That journey eventually led me to hairstylingā
And even deeper, to herbs, holistic wellness, and a more intentional way of caring for ourselves.
Because beauty is so much more than surface level.
Itās about healing, nourishment, and rebuilding from within.
This space is where Iāll share that journeyā
From esthetics to hair,
From depletion to healing,
From survival to intention.
For every woman learning to reconnect with herself, too. šæāØ

Itās not just about putting lightener on hair ā
itās about how itās applied, how itās saturated, and how the hair will respond.
Blonde is chemistry + intention.
If youāre trusting me with your colour, I take that seriously š¤
