Chloe has been the definition of a team player, and it has been such a privilege to watch her grow into the incredibly talented stylist she is today.

From joining us through high school co-op, to completing her apprenticeship, and finally becoming a licensed stylist over the past 5 years — we couldn’t be more proud of everything she has accomplished. Watching someone work so hard, learn, grow, and find their place in this industry is one of the best parts of what we do.

Getting to be your first stop in your career will always be a feather in our cap, Chloe. We know you are going to go on to do amazing things, and we will be cheering you on every step of the way.

Happy Labor Day! 🇨🇦

I’m spending this Monday enjoying the peace and quiet and reflecting on how quickly the years seem to have flown by.

This month marks one year since I stepped away from behind the chair to focus on building Harvest Moon Beauty. It’s incredibly bittersweet watching the salon continue to grow and realizing I’m no longer in that part of the business every day.

Of course, I still pop in from time to time to help our newer artists, lend a hand, and occasionally slide back behind the chair when we’re in full-on overflow mode! 😂

This month also marks nine years since I made the choice to begin this adventure. When I stop and really look at what teamwork has built, it’s pretty amazing.

And perhaps that’s what Labor Day has me thinking about today — the labour behind small business.

The hours of preparation that go into an event. The organization and care each employee puts into making sure their day, their clients, and their work are just right. The early mornings, late nights, problem-solving, creativity, and countless things that happen behind the scenes that most people never see.

Every person who shows up and does their part contributes to the economy and helps keep our communities moving. There is something pretty incredible about stepping back and witnessing all of that work come together.

So today, here’s to the people who fought for fair treatment, dignity, and better conditions for workers — and to every person who continues to show up, work hard, create, build, care, and contribute every single day.
