Some days in this industry are just plain awesome.

Today I had the chance to spend the day cutting hair and catching up with an old friend, the man himself, Heavy D from Heavy D's Barbershop in Nanaimo. We've both been at this barbering game for a long time, and it's always good to get shoulder-to-shoulder with someone who genuinely loves the craft and the people behind it.

Heavy D is one of the real ones. A talented barber, a great shop owner, and an even better human being. The conversations, the laughs, the stories, and the shared passion for what we do made the day fly by.

It's funny how this trade introduces you to people who start out as fellow barbers and end up becoming lifelong friends.

Thanks for making the trip, brother. Always a pleasure to have you in the shop. Looking forward to coming down to you for the next one.

You are worth it. Sometimes we get to busy to book ourselves in, toss us a bone! Help us look our best on Fathers day.

To say we're proud of this would be an understatement.

This year, we didn't run ads. We didn't campaign. We didn't remind people every five minutes that voting was open. Truthfully, we just kept our heads down and did what we've been doing for nearly a decade—showing up, cutting hair, building relationships, and trying to make people feel a little better when they walk out than when they walked in.

So winning Gold for Best Barbershop in Kelowna hits differently.

Knowing that our clients, friends, families, and this city took the time to vote for us without us even asking means more than any marketing campaign ever could.

For almost 10 years, you've trusted us with your hair, your stories, your celebrations, your tough days, and sometimes even your therapy sessions disguised as haircuts. That's not something we take lightly.

This award isn't ours alone. It belongs to every client who's sat in our chairs, every barber who's put in the work, and every person who's supported a local neighborhood barbershop since day one.

As we head into another year, we're doubling down on what got us here in the first place. Less chasing shiny objects. More focusing on our roots. Better service. Better experiences. Better relationships. The old-school stuff that never got us here in the first place.

Ten years in, and we're still just getting warmed up.
