Jennifer Lark Kent - Thai Yoga Massage
Enjoy and relax while I massage and stretch you while moving you through a series of yoga like movements.
Suitable for all fitness levels, ages, body types and sizes. Modified massages available for prenatal clients and those with mobility restrictions. Thai Yoga Massage is a comprehensive form of bodywork that allows the client to deeply experience the combined benefits of both a full body massage and yoga like stretching in a single massage session. Clients can experience these benefits in their body, regardless of age, size, fitness level, flexibility or their preference for pressure, as this form of bodywork combines movement, stretch and massage into one modality. Each session can be individualized to suit the unique needs of every client whether they have severe movement restrictions, are prenatal or hyperflexible.

The Power of Hands-On Touch During Stretching
There is something different that can happen when gentle, knowledgeable touch is added to a stretch.
During yoga or assisted stretching, we aren't only working with muscles. We're working with fascia, the nervous system, circulation and the brain's understanding of how our body can safely move.
When we move into an unfamiliar position or deeper stretch, the brain may put on the brakes. Gentle touch can help provide reassurance and sensory information: You're supported. You're safe here. You can soften.
Over time, those positive experiences can help the body and brain become more comfortable with that movement and range. Instead of forcing a stretch, we're helping the body learn that it is safe to move there.
Hands-on work can also help warm and loosen restricted fascia, encourage blood flow and fluid exchange, and improve hydration and glide within the tissues. When this is combined with a slow, supported stretch, areas that initially feel tight or resistant can begin to soften and allow more comfortable movement.
And sometimes the difference isn't about going deeper at all.
A hand supporting a shoulder, gently working along the back, massaging the feet while the legs are supported in a stretch, or easing tension around the neck and scalp can help someone stop holding themselves quite so much.
The stretch becomes less about how far can I go? and more about how comfortably can my body settle here?
That is one of the things I love about bringing hands-on bodywork into movement practices like yoga: movement and touch working together, giving the body time, support and permission to soften.

What if one of the greatest benefits of massage isn't just what happens to your muscles... but what happens in your nervous system?
For years, massage has often been explained in terms of "tight muscles" and "knots." While those can certainly play a role, research is helping us better understand that touch also has a profound influence on the brain and nervous system.
A calm, safe therapeutic environment, combined with skilled, intentional touch, can help shift the body from a state of stress and protection toward one of rest, recovery, and healing. When our nervous system feels safe, breathing often becomes easier, muscles begin to soften, movement can improve, and many people simply feel more like themselves again.
As a Thai Yoga Bodywork practitioner, this is one of the things I love most about my work. Every session is designed to create space for your body to unwind—not by forcing change, but by working with your nervous system and meeting you where you are.
If you're curious about the science behind this approach, the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada recently shared an excellent article exploring massage therapy through a neuroscience lens. It's an interesting read for anyone wanting to understand why therapeutic touch can have such a powerful effect.
