August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day.

Overdose can happen to anyone, and every loss matters.
Today, we remember the lives lost, support those affected, and raise awareness about the realities of substance use and overdose.

Every life matters.
Every loss counts.
Let’s replace stigma with compassion, silence with conversation, and judgment with support.

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day. Please wear a purple ribbon or put a candle out to raise Awareness as we honour everyone who has been impacted. Today we remember all the lives lost, of our loved ones, family, and community members. 💜

Join us on August 19 for a discussion of Addiction Treatment in Context: Principles for a System of Just, Accessible, and Voluntary Care.

This conversation takes place amid governments' growing reliance on addiction treatment as a primary response to the unregulated drug crisis. We’ll examine the ideological role of treatment within the broader social and policy context of criminalized substance use. We'll also consider how governments can promote better outcomes for people who use drugs, including through bold investments in housing, income security and health care, and by reforming our drug laws and policies.
