What started as an idea to celebrate strength, resilience, and the stories of those affected by cancer has grown into something truly meaningful. This incredible initiative wouldn’t be possible without the volunteers, sponsors, participants, and supporters who give their time, talents, and hearts each year.

Meet Our July Model: Harry McConnell
Harry McConnell always found joy in life's simple pleasures. After years of running a bakery, he looked forward to spending his retirement hunting, fishing, curling, golfing, and enjoying time with his family.
A routine PSA test in 2010 changed everything.
Diagnosed with prostate cancer at 59, Harry faced the uncertainty that comes with any cancer diagnosis.
Thankfully, his cancer was detected early, his surgery was successful, and today, more than 15 years later, he continues to live life to the fullest while giving back as a volunteer at RVH.
Harry's story is a powerful reminder that routine screenings save lives. His hope is that more men will make their health a priority, have regular checkups, and seek early detection because it truly can make all the difference.

Meet Our June Model: Kathie Pirrie
In 2019, what seemed like a sore on Kathie Pirrie's nose that wouldn't heal led to a diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma. While the cancer was treatable, the journey required extensive surgery and reconstruction, leaving her with a visible reminder of her experience.
Through it all, Kathie gained something invaluable: perspective.
Today, she enjoys time with her family, volunteering in her community, tending to her garden, and embracing the outdoors she loves. But her experience also inspired an important mission, encouraging others to protect their skin and take sun safety seriously.
Kathie's story is a reminder that early detection matters, prevention matters, and sometimes the greatest clarity comes from challenges we never expected to face.
