Apparently, my nervous system has two settings:

Complete silence on a hiking trail…

Or bass loud enough to reset my entire personality.

One gives me peace. The other gives me release.

Both are absolutely necessary.

There is absolutely no in-between.

Confession time: I cringe at my Instagram Reels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have 15 years of skin experience, a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree and seven years of nursing behind me.

But put a phone in front of me and suddenly it’s:

What is my face doing?

Why does my voice sound like that?

And have my hands always moved THAT much?

There is so much skin information available online: some educational, some based on personal experience and a lot promotional/paid.

The internet is a funny place. The algorithm doesn’t ask to see anyone’s qualifications before giving them a platform.

Someone can be paid to use a product once, confidently recommend it online and reach thousands of people, while someone with years of training is still on take 27, wondering what to do with her hands.

But the algorithm can’t share knowledge I never post.

And I want credible, evidence-informed skin advice to be visible too, so I sit with the cringe and share anyway.

To stop myself overthinking it, I now have a rule: two takes, no rewatching and post it before I can change my mind.

Although today, I made a carousel.

Baby steps 😂

Your skin doesn't wait for summer to officially start before it changes on you.

The moment the weather turns, two things happen at once: UV exposure climbs and your skin barrier starts behaving differently to how it did all winter. The rich moisturiser that felt perfect in July can suddenly leave you congested.

Here's what's actually happening underneath: as temperature rises, your blood vessels dilate to help release heat, which is why skin can look flushed, feel warmer, and turn more reactive to things it usually tolerates fine. At the same time, your sebaceous glands increase oil production as part of that same temperature-regulation response, so you're producing more of your own oil without doing anything differently at all.

Your skin barrier is working harder too. Warmer air holds more moisture, which changes how much water your skin loses to the air around it, so skin can feel oilier on the surface and drier underneath at the very same time, which is exactly why it can feel confusing.

None of this means your skin is misbehaving. It's doing exactly what it's designed to do, the season is just asking something different of it than winter did.

Acne can be frustrating because it often feels like you’re doing everything “right” and still not seeing the change you hoped for.

But breakouts are rarely something we want to approach by simply adding another product or stronger treatment.

At Peak Aesthetics, we look at the bigger picture, including your breakout patterns, inflammation, congestion, barrier health, current skincare and what you’ve already tried.

Because two people can have acne and still need completely different plans.

Your first step doesn’t have to be another treatment.

It can simply be understanding what your skin is trying to tell you.

Your next self-care day awaits. 🤍

I'm pretty excited about the new product about to launch in clinic.

It's been months of checking, testing, trying different options, holding out for something that actually protects the skin, but feels amazing whole doing it.

It's landing soon!!!!

When I assess your skin, I’m looking at more than the concern you booked for.

I’m looking at what’s happening on the surface, what may be contributing underneath, and what your skin actually needs before we move forward.

Sometimes we can begin targeting your main concern straight away. Other times, the skin needs calming, strengthening or simplifying first.

That’s why we don’t guess.

Every recommendation should have a reason behind it, and your plan should reflect what your skin actually needs, not just what’s trending. 🤍

Comment “STRATEGY” and I’ll send you the link to book your Skin Strategy Consultation.

I can turn one small task into a 47-step plan.

Planning, researching and analysing are places where I feel comfortable. They make me feel as though I’m working towards something without requiring me to do the part that actually feels scary.

But I’ve had to be honest with myself.

Planning can create the illusion of progress, but only action creates change.

No amount of thinking about being visible will make me more visible.

No amount of waiting to feel confident will create confidence.

And no perfectly organised plan will generate new evidence or results if I never actually execute it.

I’ve also realised that time disappears when I do nothing.

I can spend hours thinking about, avoiding and dreading something that may have taken 20 minutes if I had simply started.

The thinking is often far more exhausting than the doing.

Fear will probably remain part of this journey because I care deeply about Peak and the clients I serve. The goal isn’t to become fearless. It’s to move with the fear without allowing it to lead.

I no longer want to hide, quieten myself or censor who I am because I’m worried about what other people might think.

So my word at the moment is VISIBILITY.

Not just posting more.

Using my voice. Sharing what I know. Asking for opportunities. Making decisions. Allowing myself to take up space and be seen.

Less thinking about becoming the person I want to be.

More action that proves I already am her.

Just me over here, very uncomfortable, but visible.

Peak Aesthetics was created from a simple belief: real skin change takes time, consistency and the right plan.

It’s not about chasing promises or choosing random treatments. It’s about understanding your skin, supporting its biology and using the right combination of treatments and home care for you.

If you’re ready to start but want guidance first, we can do that virtually too. 🤍

Comment “VIRTUAL” and I’ll send you the link to book your Virtual Skin Consultation.

A good skincare product can still be completely wrong for your skin.

More expensive, more active or more popular doesn’t automatically mean more appropriate.

That’s why we look at your skin first, not the trend.

If you’re tired of buying products and still wondering what your skin actually needs, comment “SKIN” and we’ll send you the details for your Understanding Your Skin Session. 🤍

Two people can walk into the clinic with what looks like the same skin concern and still need two completely different plans.

Take pigmentation. For one person, we may be able to begin targeting pigment straight away. For someone else, the skin may be inflamed, sensitive or struggling with a compromised barrier, which means pushing harder could make things worse.

The same applies to breakouts, redness and early signs of ageing.

That’s why I’m not only looking at what we can see on the surface. I’m looking at how your skin is functioning, what you’re currently using, what you’ve already tried and how your skin responds.

Because someone else’s treatment plan is not automatically the right plan for you.

Book your Understanding Your Skin Session and let’s work out the right starting point for your skin. 🤍
