Spring Tea Blend
The hum of lawnmowers, the buzz of bees, the colourful blossom…spring has arrived.
This is my spring tea blend.
Golden Rod, Plantain, Linden, Marshmallow Leaf, Dandelion Root and Mullein.
My first version of this blend did not include Mullein. Then I woke up wheezing. That same morning my car window screen was covered in yellow dust (pollen). At that point I added Mullein to the blend.

Happy Wattle Day.
This is a picture that I took of the Wattle at sunset.

When I read that Mudbrick Herb Cottage was stocking Self Heal (Prunella vulgaris) I could hardly believe it. If you follow my posts you’ll know that last year I tried to source dried Self Heal. I couldn’t purchase it from an Australian supplier and ended up buying it from Etsy. It came from Bulgaria. Now I have Australian grown Self Heal. Thank you Mudbrick Herb Cottage.

I have Self Heal growing in a pot but at this time of the year (winter) it is not flowering.
Self Heal is great for helping with lymphatic movement and it’s anti inflammatory.
I’m enjoying working with it in a variety of tea blends. Today’s blend was Self Heal, Rosemary, Linden, Plantain and Chamomile.

Good Morning Hug.
This is the herbal tea blend that I start my day with, every single day.
Sage, Calendula, Yarrow, Wood Betony and Liquorice.
Every now and then I consider drinking a different blend. I’ve even tried starting the day with an herbal infusion but I always come back to this blend.
The herbs in this blend are such great all rounders. I think about each of their attributes as I’m putting them in the mug, still half asleep, and it puts me in a good frame of mind to start the day. I like to call it a conscious creation cuppa.

I made lozenges again today. This time I added Creamed Blackberry honey from Gatherer Foragerer.

The lozenges are delicious.
I noticed that after I washed the mixture off my hands my skin felt silky and smooth.
I’d like to think it has the same effect on the mucosa of the GIT so it could bring relief from burning conditions such as reflux.
It would probably also be a great face mask.

I find this tea blend so smooth and easy to drink - Burdock root, Marshmallow root and Rosehip.
It’s one of the blends that I regularly find myself picking up the mug not realising I’ve finished it and think ‘it’s all gone, already’!
Burdock is currently my favourite liver herb. I drink this blend for lots of benefits including helping the liver with hormonal overload.
In addition to its liver support, Burdock root also contains inulin which feeds the good gut bacteria.
I have a dry constitution and Marshmallow root moistens from the inside out.
Rosehip rounds the blend out nicely with antioxidant support and flavour.

I had a cold this week. The tea blend I drank was:
Mullein - because my lungs weren’t happy
Chamomile - for settling and digestion
Catnip - calming the upset of being unwell
Linden - because I always include a moistening herb and Linden’s heart healing benefits were needed
Plantain - another moistening herb, this time for gut healing.
I was pleasantly surprised by how good this blend tasted. I made it several days in a row.
I addition I had my Mullein elixir (from Gatherer Forager) and my homemade lozenges.
