This is something I see all the time in the hair industry, and I think it’s worth talking about. 🤍

As a hair extension specialist, you hear a lot of conversations.

Clients come into the salon and talk about previous stylists, experiences they’ve had and things they weren’t happy with. Sometimes they’ll also repeat things another hairdresser has said about someone else’s work.

And it goes both ways ,stylists can be just as quick to criticise another stylist’s work without knowing the full story behind it.

The thing is, there are always two sides.

When someone new sits in your chair, you weren’t there for their previous consultation. You don’t know what was discussed or agreed on, what advice was given, what aftercare was followed, how the hair was maintained or what happened between appointments.

Especially in hair extensions, there are so many different methods and techniques. Just because another stylist does something differently to you doesn’t automatically mean they’re doing it wrong.

As stylists, we can listen to a client, make them feel heard and give our professional opinion without tearing down the person who worked on their hair before us.

And as clients, it’s completely okay to change stylists, be unhappy with an experience or seek another opinion. But there’s a difference between honestly explaining your experience and disrespecting the person behind the chair.

The hair industry is a VERY small world. Hairdressers know each other, train together, ask each other for advice and refer clients to one another ,sometimes without clients even realising those connections exist.

You never need to tear someone else down to support another person.

Clients deserve respect. Stylists deserve respect.

Professionalism should always go both ways.

Emily has been coming to me for 6 years, so she is well and truly one of my OG clients.

When she first came to me, her hair had been chemically damaged, so over the years we’ve always been really mindful of maintaining the health and integrity of her hair.

Around 3 years ago, we decided to take her dark and then simply let her natural colour grow through until she was ready to start her journey back to blonde again.

And this is where we’re at now ✨

This transformation was a 6-hour colour service, taking our time to achieve the result while still prioritising the health and integrity of her hair.

Now we’re getting her ready for the next part of her transformation 🤍

In a few weeks, Emily will be a model for my student, who will be completing her new set of hair extensions under my guidance and supervision. I’ll be there every step of the way, and I can’t wait to share the finished result.

I often get asked if I’m taking on new colour clients, and the answer is no. All of my colour clients have been with me from the beginning, and I only continue to offer colour services to my existing long-term clients.

I know this post probably makes me sound like a B*TCH 😂 but I’ve been in this industry way too long and I’ve honestly heard and seen it all.

I know I’m not the hairdresser for everyone — and I’m completely okay with that.

These are my salon policies. You will be sent them when booking an appointment and you will also be asked to sign them. They are there to protect myself, my clients and my business.

If you are unhappy with my policies or don’t agree with them, please don’t book an appointment with me. I’m simply not the right hairdresser for you, and that’s okay.

Please read through ALL policies before contacting me.

Asking me “What would be best for my hair?” or “How much will my hair cost?” without me seeing your hair is not enough information for me to give you an accurate answer or quote.

I DO NOT offer consultations over the phone or via DM. Every head of hair is different and needs to be properly assessed in person.

DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

This is made clear before you book. Arguments, threats of bad reviews or fake “lawyers” calling me will not suddenly make a non-refundable deposit refundable. You agreed to this policy when you booked.

And lastly, if you choose to have your extensions maintained, coloured or worked on by another stylist, that is completely fine. However, if something then happens to your extensions, please don’t contact me asking “Why has this happened?”

I genuinely do not know. I wasn’t the person maintaining your hair, I don’t know what products were used, what colour was used or what was done during those appointments. The stylist who has been looking after your hair will be in a much better position to answer that question.

My policies aren’t there to be difficult. They’re there so everyone knows exactly where they stand before booking an appointment. 🤍

Being able to give her back the length, fullness and beautiful hair she deserves is exactly why I love doing what I do.

And can we just appreciate how natural that blend is?! 😍
