As a massage therapist I find the body a masterpiece of weird and wonderful mechanisms and intricacies. I hope this collection of topics interests you too.
I'm an clinical massage therapist with additional specialist qualifications for conducting electro-therapy treatments and specialised Migraine and headache treatments. Massage education in Austria consists of courses for anatomy, kinesiology, physiology, pathology, palpation, hygiene, first aid and compression bandaging, thermo-therapy, ultrasound therapy and balneal treatments including each modality's diagnosis, approach, indications and contra-indications, culture and histories. In addition to the above, administrative classes in sanitation-, industrial- and national insurance laws and regulations are also obligatory. My competencies include:
Swedish Massage
Connective Tissue massage (Bindegewebsmassage) in accordance with the teachings of Elizabeth Dicke
Sub-Cutaneous Reflexology (SRT) in accordance with the teachings of Hermann Häferlin
Segment Massage in accordance with the teachings of Gläser, Dalicho & Quillich. Trigger Point Massage in accordance with the teachings of Simons, Travell & Jones
Acupuncture Massage in accordance with the teachings of Willy Penzel & in association with the TCM 5 Element Theory: Cupping
Therapeutic Manual Lymphatic Drainage in accordance with the teachings of Vodder & Földi
Complex Physical Decongestive Therapy for Migraines & Headaches – Günther Bringezu
Foot Reflexology in accordance with the teachings of Hanne Marquardt
Myofascial Re-arrangement in accordance with the teachings of Tom Myers
Mind you......saying that, I'm a practical person who leans towards the reality/scientific based concepts and can accept placebo also has its uses. In other words, I'd rather help you reset your nervous system through serious evaluation and cooperation than prod any kind of "energetic" or "pressure" points while you passively await some kind of healing.
