She initiated a new approach of "care and cure" of formulated Ayurvedic products and specialized clinical treatments. At a time when only apprenticeship training was available, she pioneered vocational training in cosmetology in India with her professional schools. Her courage to look ahead and stay focused has steered her towards greater opportunities. Shahnaz stands atop in her niche because of her flexibility to incorporate the latest techniques while working on traditional Ayurvedic formulations. It was indeed a big challenge for Shahnaz to enter the international market at a time when India was not represented as a beauty expert. But her unique approach with placing her fingers on the pulse of international demands helped her to create her way. As business is all about crusts and troughs, she had to go through financial crises. She adopted a unique franchise system by training and encouraging women to start salons in their own homes. She gave them the franchise rights to start Shahnaz Herbal salons, which carried out her specialized treatments. This enabled her to display her products and treatments without investing in them. Today, the illustrious Indian beautician and entrepreneur has numerous cosmetics and skincare products, academies and 400 salons spread across 138 countries. She is one of the top entrepreneurs with an estimated turnover of Rs. 650 crore and its 350 products are retailed through 30,000 outlets. Promoting authentic Ayurvedic beauty products or as she calls it ‘selling India’s ancient civilization in a jar’ earned her unprecedented international acclaim. She has bagged several awards for her excellence in the field. Shahnaz proves that a person with fire within always has a space reserved in history.
