Our Vedia Barnett has a way of putting words to the things so many women feel but don’t always say out loud.

Her latest article, “The Women We Are Becoming Would Be Proud of the Women We Used to Be,” is a beautiful reminder that growth isn’t about forgetting the woman you used to be it’s about honoring her.

One part that really stood out to us:

“We used to think rest had to be earned. Now we know rest is part of being human.”

I’m incredibly honored to share that I’ll be receiving the Provider & Protector Award at the She Is The Village Legacy in Motion Gala on August 29, 2026.

As a Navy veteran and the founder of The Women Veterans Company, this recognition means so much because it reflects the mission I’ve dedicated my life to—serving others, building community, and creating spaces where women veterans can heal, connect, and thrive.

Congratulations to all of the incredible women being honored. It is truly a privilege to stand alongside such inspiring leaders.

I am truly honored to be nominated for the Provider & Protector Award at the She Is The Village 2nd Annual Gala.

Kendra, thank you for all the work you do for our community. It has been amazing to work alongside you and witness the impact She Is The Village continues to make for families throughout our community.

As I reflect on our journey together, I think back to one of our very first projects—a toy giveaway that served more than 100 families. We even brought out Ms. Claus, an Air Force veteran, to help spread holiday cheer. Seeing the smiles on those children’s faces reminded me why community work matters.

And how could I forget our Glam Bar experience? Being able to help women feel confident, beautiful, and cared for is one of my favorite ways to serve. I am excited to collaborate again and make an even greater impact in the future.

As a fellow Blue Devil, this recognition means so much to me. I am deeply grateful to be part of a village that uplifts parents, especially mothers, and creates opportunities for families to thrive.

I will continue to support this community and the incredible work being done through She Is The Village.
