Yesterday, I graduated from the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business program, and it was truly life-changing. 💚
When I first joined this 12-week program, I thought I was signing up to learn how to grow my business. While I absolutely did that, I also learned so much about myself.
This experience challenged me to think bigger, dream bigger, and see new possibilities for my life and business. It pushed me outside of my comfort zone in ways I never expected. I traveled solo for the first time, walked into rooms full of people I had never met, raised my hand for leadership opportunities, and learned that sometimes the greatest thing you can do is simply show up as yourself.
One phrase that’s been on my mind lately is: Everything compounds.
Every conversation, every connection, every challenge, every room you walk into, and every opportunity you say yes to builds on the last. You may not realize it in the moment, but over time those experiences shape you into the person you’re becoming.
I’m leaving this program with so much gratitude 🥹 for my cohort, the business advisors and professors at NYU Stern School of Business, the Goldman Sachs team, and every lesson along the way. Most of all, I’m proud of myself and all the other ladies in Cohort 9 for continuing to show up for our businesses!
This is only the beginning, and I can’t wait to see what all of these experiences compound into next. ✨💚

While organizing my shop today, I came across my 2021 vision board. It reminded me how important it is to write your goals down and actually create a plan to work toward them.
This year marks five years since I left my career as a school counselor and went full-time with Issentials. Looking back at that vision board, I realized how many of those goals have become reality—and how many new dreams have been added along the way.
Whether you use a vision board, planner, journal, or notes app, write it down. You don’t have to have everything figured out today, but having a vision gives you something to work toward.
