Ma********on: Science, Faith, and Social Decency (Who does it most?)

Sexuality is a biological process that should be understood scientifically and ethically, without letting it become a source of pressure.

Ma********on is a topic many people engage in privately but fear to discuss openly. One of the biggest curiosities surrounding it is: Who actually does it more—men or women?

The Statistics

When looking at research data, men clearly lead the way. Statistics show that

90%–95% of men report ma********ng at some point in their lives.

For women the figure stands between 70%–80%

However, the lower percentage among women is often attributed to social stigma and a hesitation to admit it. Therefore, the actual numbers could be much closer.

Why do they do it?

Generally, men often do it to relieve stress or for immediate gratification. Women, on the other hand, frequently use it as a way to explore and understand their own bodies.

Science vs. Religion

Biological Perspective: It is a natural sexual stimulus. Many use it to balance the pressure created by hormonal activity.

Religious Perspective From a Buddhist perspective (for laypeople), this does not fall under "Kamesumicchacara" (sexual misconduct), as it does not involve forcing or harming another party.

Mental Health Science suggests that practicing it with understanding can reduce stress. Not doing it is not an illness, and the idea that it ruins future married life is a total myth. Similarly, the belief that it is harmful specifically to women is incorrect.

Social Decency and Addiction

While everyone has the right to choose whether or not to engage in this, maintaining personal and social dignity is paramount.

Privacy is key. Ma********on is a strictly private matter. Unfortunately, we sometimes hear of individuals engaging in such acts in public places like buses. This is a serious issue. Engaging in this behavior publicly is often linked to a psychological condition called Exhibitionism. It is a criminal act that violates the mental peace and dignity of others.

The Bottom Line

If one chooses to do it, it must be confined to a private room or space. It should never be done in a way that is visible to others or causes discomfort to society.

Like anything else, addiction is harmful. A civilized person is one who acts in a way that protects their own dignity and the respect of society, ensuring that their private habits never interfere with their daily life or the well-being of others.
