Do you sit normally or in a yoga pose while doing your own nails? 🤣 Excuse my state, my calculations say I should wash my hair tomorrow 😄 My skin also decided to flair up.. always happens when I need to look presentable somewhere

Yapping is the new trendy word so let's yap while I do my own nails.

I'm not saying this because I have a programme to sell you. I don't. I'm just speaking from my own experience and because I see many beginners who keep wondering what brand to switch to, when their work is not that good yet and the brand itself won't fix that.

The majority of retention problems come from choosing the wrong product for the nail type/desired length and shape or wrong technique. This won't be fixed by switching to another brand.

At the start, your money is better spent on education. Learn how to make any product work (professional, I don't mean Amazon brands) and then follow the trends with brands.

Partner up, become an affiliate, get paid. You will see why so many people tried to convince you that switching over to the brand they promote will fix your problems.

I love experimenting and trying new brands. But just for the fun of it not because the previous one caused me problems

If all clients came with perfect nails and attitude, our job would be so much easier. Unfortunately the ones who have problems end up going to people who struggle to solve them. Why?

Because the knowledgeable nail techs are all booked up. The people with free time to take on new clients are usually just starting out. So unfortunately it becomes a cycle.

You need knowledge at first and then once you have your regulars you don't have to deal with difficult nails or difficult clients. But at the start it is scary.

My goal is to let you go through situations in a safe online space so that when you face them in person you know what to do.

Should you rebrand?
A quick story of the brands I used as a beginner nail tech.
Like many others, I didn't think I was the problem, I thought the brand is. And I spend days researching what other people use. Some were happy with the brand I was unhappy with.. shocking 🤣
You can always find people who swear by a brand and those who say they want to rebrand away from it. But remember this: we should be able to use any brand and get perfect retention. Choosing should be based on personal preference for the bottle design, brush, viscosity, coverage, shine etc, not because we think rebranding will solve our foundational knowledge problems.

Online Vs in-person courses. Both can be great, both can be terrible. It reaaaally depends who you chose as an educator.
I've personally produced perfect nails during a course, then couldn't repeat half the steps when the educator wasn't there to remind me, fix my mistakes and guide me all the way. So although lots of people think holding the learner's hand is good, I think it's the opposite. Have you experienced this?

I am sorry but if you willingly and knowingly go to someone who is a beginner, you cannot expect perfect nails. You want to complain? Go ahead, but it is pointless. If she could have done it better she would have, but she also would have charged you more.
Nail techs, believe me we have all gone through this. We all started from 0 skills. We all had clients with lifting, with breaking nails, with greenies, with onycholysis. We've had people not like the nails we did for them. But we are still here and thriving.
Just bite the bullet and give it a go. And if someone messes with you mental health, my inbox is open to vent ❤

Why are people supportive of women making money… until it’s a nail tech?

I love income report videos and let me tell you some women are rich rich and their comment section is as positive as it can get. Yet the moment a nail tech mentions earning a tiny fraction of that and she is met with hatred. I will never understand this mindset.

My brain wants to do it all, in one day. 🤣 This might be my 5-10 year plan, but as of now I'm forcing myself to just do one thing - Veluna.
I'm not sure how to describe it quickly yet.
It is an online course for nail techs which uses games and storytelling to grab your attention and keep it. I'm using a learning approach that will make even the boring nail theory fun and memorable.
You will be helping Ellie to enrol in Veluna Institute of Nail Arts. As the story goes, she finds out that the institute is cursed and she is the chosen one to break it. But will you be able to help her pass all the witches trials? Will she find love, friendships, betrayals or be hurt in the meantime? You will have to play to find out.
