An IUD isn’t just about contraception.
For some women in perimenopause, a levonorgestrel IUD can be an important part of managing heavy or unpredictable bleeding — while also providing reliable contraception.
And when appropriate, certain 52-mg levonorgestrel IUDs can provide the progestogen component of menopausal hormone therapy alongside systemic estrogen.
Perimenopause care isn’t one-size-fits-all. Sometimes a very small device can be one piece of a much bigger hormone plan.

How do hormones work? 🔑
Hormones are chemical messengers. They travel through the bloodstream and bind to specific receptors—like a key fitting into a lock.
Once the hormone connects with its receptor, it sends a message that can influence sleep, mood, temperature, metabolism, bone health, sexual function and much more.
Different hormones fit different receptors—and each one delivers its own message.
They look identical because they are identical.
Bioidentical progesterone has the same molecular structure as the progesterone your body produces.
“Bioidentical” describes the hormone’s structure. It does not automatically mean compounded, completely natural or risk-free.
Same molecule. The treatment should still be individualized.
Perimenopause is not a smooth, predictable decline in hormones.
Estrogen and progesterone can fluctuate—sometimes dramatically. That’s why symptoms may change from week to week and affect your periods, sleep, mood, concentration and temperature regulation.
Your symptoms are real.
Your experience is individual.
And your care should be too.

Just because two things happen together doesn’t mean one caused the other.
🍦 More ice cream is sold in the summer.
☀️ More sun exposure happens in the summer.
That doesn’t mean ice cream causes skin cancer.
Sometimes there’s a third factor that explains the connection.
That’s why when a study says two things are “linked” or “associated,” it doesn’t automatically mean one caused the other.
Association ≠ causation.CorrelationIsNotCausation
