Fall pool closing is only 6 to 8 weeks out for most GTA homeowners.
Booking now, before the fall rush hits, is exactly what avoids costly surprises at spring opening.
Liner condition, equipment service, and safety cover sizing are the three worth sorting in August.

The average GTA pool season without a heater runs from late June to early September - roughly 10 weeks.
A gas heater or heat pump changes that math. Water that holds at 28 to 30 degrees Celsius in late September means swimmers comfortable in the pool when the air outside already feels cool.
For families who use the pool regularly, a heater returns its cost in season-hours quickly. It also means a closing date that fits your schedule rather than the weather.

August hits chlorine harder than any other month.
UV from direct sunlight breaks down free chlorine faster than your system replaces it. Heavy bather load and warm water temperatures push the demand higher at the same time.
The fix is not adding more chemicals at once. It is testing more often during heat waves, running the pump longer during peak sun hours, and checking your acid level - the stabilizer that protects chlorine from UV degradation.
If the stabilizer is low, the rest of your chemistry is fighting an uphill battle all month.

Homeowners who want a new pool or a full renovation for next season usually start that conversation in July or August. September fills up fast, and permit timing for spring builds often traces back to fall decisions.
If you are sitting in your backyard this month and thinking about what you would change, that thought is worth acting on now.

Heavy bather load, sunscreen, environmental debris, and elevated water temperatures all push the filter harder in July than any other month of the season.
A filter that has not been cleaned since the spring opening is doing less than it should. The sign is not always obvious - it is flow rate and water clarity dropping slowly before it becomes noticeable. Check the pressure gauge. If it reads 8-10 PSI above your normal baseline, it is time to clean.

Salt water pool owners - this one is for you.
A lot of people assume their water is fine because they have a salt system running. Salt systems still produce chlorine, and when levels drift too high, the liner fades faster than it should. Test strips take about 10 seconds. Dip, shake, compare to the chart. That one habit protects a lot of money over time. If you have a Hayward automation system, you can also adjust your chlorinator output directly from the controller without touching any chemicals. We walk through all of it in this video.

Custom safety covers are made-to-measure. Lead times mean that homeowners who wait until September to order often cannot get one installed before the closing window.
If a new cover is on the list for this fall, July is when that conversation needs to start. Worth noting: a properly fitted safety cover supports a person's weight. It is not just about keeping leaves out.

Christine M. came to us for a liner replacement and equipment upgrade, then stayed for weekly service. The part we hear most from long-term clients is not the technical work. It is that they stop worrying about the pool and start using it. That is the goal every single time.

A weekly service visit from People for Pools is not someone coming to skim leaves. It covers water chemistry tested and adjusted, equipment inspected, filter checked, surfaces brushed, and results documented before the technician leaves.
July is the month when skipping even one visit tends to show up in the water. Weekly and bi-weekly schedules are available for the rest of the season at pfpools.com.
