A crow atop a skull; the witness to forgotten stories.

A gift for Andrea and her bookshelf! Back lit and nestled between some books of lore.

I decided to get into stained glass last summer because what's another hobby? 😅

I knew both of these projects had 'homes' even before I committed my thoughts to paper.

The rose was for my mom, Rose! She's kind of a big deal and deserved something special.

The opossum was a gift for my very eclectic aunt. She has a creative and artistic outlook on life, while also advocating for opossums.

I designed and built a bookcase for Andrea. It's loosly designed in a "Mid Century Modern" style.

Aways learning... This one definitely challenged me and is my biggest project to date!

Smashed out a Challenge Coin display shelf to showcase my collection. Thinking ahead I gave some extra space in hopes my collection will grow! 😂 And why not make two while the tooling is setup if anyone needs one.

This frame was a gift to my wife and a tribute to my late father-in-law on the anniversary of his passing. Greg was a senior pipe designer for a company that did a lot of work in chemical plants and this print was hand drawn by him ’92!

The frame is made from walnut, maple* and accented with padauk. That maple was wood that was left behind in Greg’s workshop, the pencil was his from his desk at work and this was his signature.

Even in Gregs absence, he has left a lasting impression.

What's the sense of getting an annual registration certificate if you cant show it off?!

Displayed are real pinned bees (3 workers, queen and 2 drones), some cut comb and a hive tool. The picture behind the comb has a queen hidden among the bees too.

This idea evolved from a graduation shadow frame. It went through a few revisions of panel layouts and compositions.

I made a thing! A chunk of comb I had to remove from one of the swarm traps mounted in a shadow box. The background is cropped out of a picture I took last year (the queen is hidden in the image!)

It's been awhile... All the excuses and none of the action!

Started back with something simple: a business card holder for my better half over at .hair.studio.andrea.

NS oak with a beeswax paste finish.

Wow! The largest project so far! A coworker asked me if I could put his wife's hair salon logo on a door. Sure can!

So happy loves it!

And here is the Idle Hands Studio's Secret Santa for 2019. A friend taps and processes his own pure Nova Scotian maple syrup!

I took the opportunity to make a reusable glass bottle for his syrup with family name on the front and blasted him on the back!

Merry Christmas from Idle Hands Studio! @ Berwick, Nova Scotia
