In an interview with the BBC, Davido explained why he wore the names of the abducted Oyo teachers and students during his FIFA World Cup 2026 performance.

He said some people stay silent to protect their image, but he believes no image is worth protecting when children are being kidnapped.

In his words, "There's no image to protect if little kids are still being kidnapped."

According to Davido, he used the global stage to raise awareness about the abductions.
